Not Sure How to Feel

My  parking spot at the West Fred Meyers in Fairbanks is now where they have located the store cart return. I am not sure how I feel about this change. Am I to feel cut off, as if this is no longer where I live and do the grocery shopping? Or am I missed so much that my parking spot is being held in reserve, just for me, no one else can park here? The jury is still out but I am leaning toward the second option and smile knowing that if I ever wanted to live and shop here again they have been holding my parking spot for me.

Rainy Summer in Fairbanks

It has been a rainy summer in Fairbanks which has kept the wildfires to a minimum but has caused trouble of the flooding kind.  Good thing Mom lives on the high bank side of the river. 

We are ready for a bit of sun and dryer weather.  I hope your summer has been a good mix of rain and sun.   

Driving the Alcan!

It  is a big adventure to drive the Alcan and these two are packed for the mission. Haley is headed outside for graduate school and the least expensive way to get all your stuff there is to have it travel with you, in your vehicle. No room for hitchhikers or mice for that matter.

It's a bugs life... and this is just from the drive from Fairbanks to Anchor-town.

Lemongrass ~ making Fairbanks Alaska 'hottier' since 1996.  We love Lemongrass for this great memory and if you have one of their original bags it it a collectors item for sure according to us.

Blueberry Heaven

When you find a patch of earth that is ripe with the best blueberries you have tasted in a brazilian years, you have a  tendency to keep that spot a secret.

Berry picking season is about over in Alaska, and I hope you too were able to collect a pies worth of joy.

We  spent a wonderful day with our friends Mike & Lori at their home a few weekends back, and as it turns out Lori is a pierogi master. She learned from her mother who learned from her mother, you know how this works. I am so thankful that she shared with me the family recipe and welcomes us as family.

Earthquake ~ 3.8

Woke me up and then I fell back asleep.  Almost like being back in Fairbanks.  Easy quake makes for no build up of nerves.
