Fog

I only need to think of you and
love rolls back in towards my shore
as a fog so impenetrable it covers
every inch of air that surrounds me.
Breathing becomes a grueling task.
My heart becomes a weighty object.
Your voice sounds in my ears perfect
flawless as the mist collects on my skin.
Love everlasting stand on this shore for all time.

Yesterday Today & Tomorrow

Yesterday we were all in excruciating pain
Today I understand your absence
Tomorrow I will have to move on

You're not the only one hurting
You're not the only one that weeps
All our hearts have a hole a mile deep

I have given my all to ease others' ache
Your phone rang, your box received mail
My house remained silent and still

Yesterday we had our kingpin
Today we are still searching for a reason
Tomorrow I will have to move on

Midnight Clear

Upon a midnight clear I saw the visions of happy people laughing and dancing into the night till the wee hours of morning. Upon a midnight clear in a forest of snow covered trees I saw a deer sleeping away the evening dreaming of warm summer feasts of green leaves. Upon a midnight clear my heart drifted away on the breeze, thankful for all the blessings received. Spring, summer, fall and even during the dark of winter, it's good to be here.

Take Me Away

Sneak in and take me away for I have lived long enough in this place of lonely long shadows. Where my days are spent in restless slumber drifting from one dream to the next without a thought or the will to care.

Open quietly the door to the new. A new place filled with sunshine, summer breezes and bees that buzz from one clover flower to the next.

Sneak in and render my heart a new. Carry me away. Warm my heart with your rays and light my days with your love.

Sneak in and take me away.

Fly

A young girl once spent her days living among the fireflies
On warm summer evenings she would play under the light of the moon.
A breeze would blow in new adventures.
The wheat rippled, swayed, rocked
Under this silvery light igniting her imagination.
Laying on the grass looking up at the stars,
Watching the firefly’s dance
She dreamed that she too could fly.

Rose & Azure

It takes time to be at peace within your heart.
Time to find your center, time to know who you are.
Give yourself time to gain wisdom.
Not only an education of the mind
But an education of the heart.
Be at peace among the rose and azure.

Distance

Distance spreads like a disease speeding along the miles to separate even the closest of associations. The smallest sneeze can cause a ripple in the harmony. No one is immune. No one is out of reach.

Distance will spread its wings and take flight, widening the gap till the long and the short of it no longer matter. The reasons no more make sense.

Bombast and boastful the disease rages on. Infection festers. Malady ensues.

Distance claims the heart for its own. Disdain for all others. Lost in the miles and consumed by the disease. One’s own reflection becomes repugnant.

Courage

Nightly courage to face one plate at the dinner table. Nightly resolution to face the quiet and stillness of an empty house. Nightly I reaffirm my mettle to persevere in the face of discouragement. I continue on my course in spite of my desolate surroundings. Nightly I hold the faith of your return.

Confess

I must confess
I cannot lie
I smoked a stogy
While you were on the fly

Growing Up

Beauty will blur, the hair will shorten and transform in hue. Tempers will mellow and composure will increase.

The ability to forgive and forget will be enhanced. Moving forward to the next day will become easier. Learning to let go of the past will leave room for more in your future.

More love, more laughter, and more enjoyment.

Breath ~ Part Two

Breathe life into your dreams, filled with wild and mystical creatures. Add a breath of sweet savory fresh air in your life. Let the fresh air roll into the room and across the floor, over what once was an old dream that can now have a new life. Breathe in a life healing breath.

Breath

The sound of her fluttering breath, as she finally turns a listening ear his way, causes him to falter as he repeated his assurances and begged her indulgence.

Just Yesterday

Just yesterday I held your hand. Just yesterday we laughed. Just as I turned around our world changed. You are but a shadow on the rock. Yet the tracks in the sand show the evidence and tell no fib. Just yesterday I was in love.

In The Night

Lip quivers with loneliness
Shoulder aches with longing
Immured in a vacant room
Divest of all my clothing
I am exposed

Senses reel from the vivid
Images of the night’s dream
The vision chroma
The taste satiates
I have breathed you in

You have indulged me
I accept without reluctance

Lines of Love

A hug, a handshake and a kiss.
Handshake of gratitude.
A hug of admiration.
A kiss of love.
The transitions between an acquaintance,
a friend and a lover.

Windfall

The wind falls all around me walking along this path. At times it falls on my back encouraging me along. Gentle nudges in the right direction. Sometimes a strong hand to shove me out of harm’s way and back onto the right path.

The windfall descends upon me to bestow abundant wisdom. Droplets of fulfillment from the wise men whom have come before me. The windfall of gratitude bringing life to my daydreams.

Let the wind fall upon you to satisfy those unfulfilled longings. All that you yearn for will be carried to you on today's wind.

Midnight Snow

Midnight dreams filling the empty space with desire. Each flake a moment in time. Each moment we wish to fill with love. Pure white love.

We need it when we are young babies. We search for it as young adults. We crave the love, to behold that comfortable smile meant just for us. To know that the smile on their face is the reflection of their heart and its cause is you. White fluffy flakes of love. Pure white love.

Cravings

Darkness loomed out the window despite the late morning hour. Sunrise comes late in the north this time of year. He looked past her to view his reflection in the window as he adjusted his tie. She purposefully stepped in his way forcing him to look at her. She wanted his attention, not sure why or what motivation was driving her.

"Don't make me hurt you," he said with a coy smile.

"You would never do that." An audible laugh in her voice.

"You're right," a smile on his face giving away his meaning. He finished his task and turned to leave, glancing back with an approving look.

At that moment she realized her motivation. Desire. Craving. She longed to feel his hands encircle her in a firm embrace, to be crushed against his warm welcoming body. Her heart raced at these thoughts.

Unexpectedly, he was gone, rounded the corner, out of view.

In the Quiet

In the Quiet

Stillness rolls across the land, no one speaks nor utters a word save for the small inconspicuous words on the weather. The lightning flash of the headlines disappear and all that can be seen of the moon is a malformed glow behind misty clouds.

Our world is shrouded in the night, evil thoughts from unholy creatures are on the wind. From white to blue to the coming black ~ consuming all that is just and right in its darkness. Fear is an unwelcome companion.

This to shall pass, stand firm your faith.
