You only have power over people as long as you don't take everything away from them. But when you've robbed a man of everything, he's no longer in your power -- he's free again. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn, novelist, Nobel laureate (1918-2008)

Golden Rules

If you open it, close it.
If you turn it on, turn it off.
If you unlock it, lock it up.
If you break it, admit it.
If you can't fix it, call in someone who can.
If you borrow it, return it.
If you value it, take care of it.
If you make a mess, clean it up.
If you move it, put it back.
If it belongs to someone else and you want to us it, get permission.
If you don't know how to operate it, leave it alone.
If it's none of your business, don't ask questions.
If it's not broke, don't fix it.
If it will brighten someone's day, say it.
If it will tarnish someone's reputation, keep it to yourself.
It you love someone, tell them.

Rules for Being Human

1.  You will receive a body ~ you may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire time.

2.  You will learn lessons ~ you are enrolled in a full-time informal school called life. Each day in this school you will learn lessons.  You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid.

3.  There are no mistakes, only lessons ~ growth is a process of trail and error: experimentation. The failed experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately work.

4.  A lesson is repeated until learned ~ a lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it.  Once learned, you then go on to the next lesson.

5.  Learning lessons does not end ~ there is no part of life that does not contain its lessons.  If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.

6. "There" is not better that "here" ~ when your "there" has become a "here" you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here".

7.  Others are merely mirrors of you ~ you cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.

8. What you make of your life is up to you ~ you have all the tools and resources you need.  What you do with them is up to you.  The choice is yours.

9. The answers to Life's questions lie inside you ~ all you need to do is look, listen and trust.

10. You will forget all this.

21 Days

Time changes everything and sometimes it changes like the water in the toilet bowl. Flush after flush in comes the poop out goes the poop. You keep flushing! You keep thinking this time it's going to go.

How about now?

Now?

Yet the toilet bowl is still full of blather; rubbish; baloney; bunk; poppycock; twaddle... crap!

It is said that the more things change the more they remain the same.

Really?

Do I need something to change or is it just the winter talking?

Only the sun of spring time can show me the answer!

21 day to the winter solstice when the sun will be at it's lowest point in the sky and it will start the slow climb back.

Can we hold on long enough to make the climb back with the sun?

Prayers will work wonders and are greatly appreciated!

I am

I am afraid to start.

I am afraid to fail.

Afraid to be let down gently or with a thud, the sound of my heart hitting the floor below is unmistakable and the suffering rips me apart from the inside out.

Scarring all but my distrust.

Afraid to hope against the odds that I will not fall short nor be inadequate in your eyes.

Fear holds me fast and keeps me at arm’s length from your embrace.  Far away from any pain.

I am afraid to start ~ afraid to be let down.

Weather Update ~ Brrr

Everything seems to be moving in slow motion, even the smoke rises slowly from the chimneys in these cold temperatures.  We see colder temperatures every year but every time it dips this cold we act surprised.  Perhaps it is a survival mechanism that forces us to forget the last winter and keeps us here year after year.

Statement or Question

Life is what you make it?

Life is what you make it!

Statement or Question

Do you wear a smile or a frown?  Is your heart heavy or light?

If ‘life is what you make it’ is a questions how can you control the outside forces that effect your emotions and your life?  Perhaps I worry that today is my life when in fact it is just a day, one of many.  This moment, this day might truly sting but it is not your life is it?

If ‘life is what you make it’ is a statement it is true only in the amount of credence you give it or faith with which you live your life.

My life is what I make it.  I control my destiny and I have a purpose.  At the end of the day I can choose to wear a smile or a frown.

Heal Over ~ Tune Tuesday

Currently listening to Heal Over by KT Tunstall on her album Eye to the Telescope

"Isn’t very difficult to see why you are the way you are
Doesn’t take a genius to realize that sometimes life is hard
It’s gonna take time but you’ll just have to wait
You’re gonna be fine but in the meantime."
