Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher are Ireland's most visited natural attraction and for us was one of the biggest let downs.  Sure the Cliffs rise to 700 feet and range for 5 miles over the Atlantic Ocean.  Sure they built a new visitor center in 2007 that is tucked back into the hill in cave like fashion to minimize the visual impact and has a grass covered roof. The visitor center also uses geo-thermal and solar energy but ~ here comes the but ~ one million people visit every year and the main tourist season in Ireland is from May to September. This was the most tourists we had seen in one place, all milling around and walking right in front of you.  We stayed long enough to take a few photos and walk the steps in both directions, watch the farmer on the hill work his field and made mooing sounds to the cows feeding on the hill, then we were out of there and on down the road.

"Hi farmer!"
