Thankful for time spent with those I love.

who brighten my day every time they call.

Thankful for CJ & Lisa, truer friends could not be found.

Most thankful for my husband, best friend and light of my life.

On the Job ~ Part Five

There he is again ~ a giant among men ~ really he is a giant at 6'7" ~ a hard working giant of a man! At the end of the summer, when the other job was finished, he was put to work on the new dining facility at UAF's Wood Center.  

It was a beautiful fall day to walk to lower campus and take photos. Now the place is covered in snow, cold and dark.  Enjoy your winter day and think warm thoughts!

On the Job ~ Part Four

This summer the Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center built a new dorm facility for the trainees, that live out of town but have to come to town for apprenticeship training. The youngest son was on this job most of the summer.  He has been around town helping to build a few prominent places such as a satellite platform, the native clinic, and the greenhouse at UAF. 
 

Go get 'em kid ~ you rock!

Logan Circle

Logan Circle is one of William Penn's original five squares (Northwest Square), and it was once used as a burial ground. In 1821 the ground was being used as a pasture — difficult to imagine today in the middle of this large city. In 1825 it was renamed for James Logan and 17 years later it was a punishable offense to take a cow, horse, cart wagon, or carriage into the square. Eventually the graves, mounds, and hillocks were removed. The square has become a circle, and the Swann Memorial Fountain by Alexander Stirling Calder,  is a graceful aerial water ballet in the middle of a busy city.

It was a great day and a wonderful place to visit on a sunny day.

Liberty Bell

What is liberty? What does it mean to ring free in the truth? We all have our ideas that fit our lives today. But what were the answers when the bells in Philadelphia rang in 1776?

We were able to view the Liberty Bell through the glass windows and walk around these historic grounds. Thanks to the US Government shutdown we able to partake in a bit of history ourselves. Being among the many tourists visiting our National Parks, which were closed, was an interesting experience. The thing that struck me the most was the fact that most of the ‘security’ guards were treating the tourists like evil doers. If you got too close to the barricades they would blow their whistles, point their fingers at you, and intimidate you into backing up. The next thing that became apparent was the fact that the tourists still showed up, by the hundreds, and there was not an open restroom in the National Parks which put a strain on the area businesses.

Huge fall leaves always make me smile.
