Did you know candy cigarettes continue to be manufactured and consumed in
many parts of the world. However, many manufacturers now describe their
products as candy sticks, bubble gum, or candy.

So what is the Tip Tuesday you ask ~
Be on the lookout for bad ideas!
Here is the packing for the ones I remember buying
at the corner store just down the street.
The ends were painted red to look like a lite cigarette.
I remember you and I walking down to the store buying these and sharing a few packs. Do you remember lighting the ends and then blowing them out? They tasted like roasted/burnt marshmellows. Yes, they were a "bad idea".....but they didn't make me want to smoke. It was a different time.....there are so many more "bad ideas" out there in the world today and kids are doing worse things than buying candy cigarettes. You can't buy them in any store....hence the website. Back in the day we didn't have Internet and access to the world from our home. Our home was our shelter and truly sheltered us from the world unless we turned on the Tv and watched the 6 channels we had....although we my have seen a few cigarette and booze commercials.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I kind of went off.......it just got me thinking.
ReplyDeleteI guess I should have written my own post on my own blog.... ;)
Never be sorry for leaving a comment short or long ~ we were a couple of silly kids ~ good times. You're right they did not make us smoke or mar us for life and today there are bigger worries for parents so we all do the best we can and you are doing a great job!
ReplyDeleteAs for blogging... you should... would give me something to look forward to reading especially now, since I gave up facebook for the summer... yesterday I about caved... but I remained strong!
Still don't think this is a good idea by any stretch. Kids learn by watching adults..who don't always make the best impression. Alocal store just starting out had these for sale. No more..may customers refused to go back until they removed them from the shelves. This store doesn't sell reg cigs...why sell the idea to kids??
ReplyDeleteNicely said!
DeleteI've only seen the candy cigarettes in stores that sell vintage/nostalgic type of items. I didn't think they sold them otherwise..... I wouldn't let my 11 year old buy them. BTW I can't stand being around smoking/smokers. The smell....
