Waning

The racing leaves, blown by the wind, clatter down the street.  The mountains in their new coat of white, radiating in the distance.

Fall is coming to a close and as winter rises in the East, our horizons will change and our view will diminish becoming dismal, colorless, and gray.

Someone

The clear defined lines of life begin to blur.  What makes sense in one breath looses all meaning in the next.

How can we continue on a dead-end path that leads no where.  How can we endure each day whiting out the last like it never happened? Exchanging one year for the next on the trail of dead-end lives.

How can we become someone we did not know we could be?

Someone happy.

Someone at peace.

Someone again in love with life.

Senior Photo Shoot

Smile for the camera Pops

Here is a sneak peek at the youngest senior photos.  Grandpa got the John Deere all cleaned up for the event and we did discover that engine driven machinery in fact does run better with a petroleum product in the tank. Hehehe!

It was a great day for taking photos.  We ended up taking about 100 so there are a lot of great photo's to choose from for his graduation announcement this spring.

Wake Up Call

Forgot to mention that we were woken up two nights ago by a large jolt.  The house shook like it was hit by... by... an earthquake.  It was not a very large quake but it was right under foot.

Distance

Distance spreads like a disease speeding along the miles to separate even the closest of associations.  The smallest sneeze can cause a ripple in the harmony. No one is immune. No one is out of reach.

Distance will spread its wings and take flight, widening the gap till the long and the short of it no longer matter.  The reasons no more make sense.

Bombast and boastful the disease rages on.  Infection festers.  Malady ensues.

Distance claims the heart for its own.  Disdain for all others.  Lost in the miles and consumed by the disease. Ones own reflection becomes repugnant.

Courage

Nightly courage to face one plate at the dinner table.  Nightly resolution to face the quiet and stillness of an empty house.  Nightly I reaffirm my mettle to persevere in the face of discouragement.  I continue on my course in spite of my desolate surroundings.  Nightly I hold the faith of your return.

Quilt is Finished

The stitch pattern chosen was the rose vine.

The main body of the quilt was among my Great Grandmother Gladys things that are now in my home. It was an unfinished project, all the pieces are hand stitched together. I picked the fabric for the border, sewed it on, sewed the backing piece together and ironed all 12 yards of fabric. Then I had a long arm quilter take care of the rest. It will be cherished for tons of years.

More Cement ~ We Need More Cement

It was a long hot day filled with tons of work ~ literally ~ what's left to do before winter?  Back fill the post holes, put in the power pole, and a bit more clean up of wood.  It has been a great summer of working, laughing and fun!
