The inherent downfall to academics is that a considerable
amount of those involved in the daily workings of higher education have been
bred on the belief that knowledge is the only link to the seat of power and the
way to stay in that seat is to keep their knowledge coveted. This
inherent downfall also propagates unkindness and greed. For a kind person such as me, having to work
among the unkind and selfish is some days unbearable.
So it is a good day when the University of Alaska Anchorage invests
in Development Day where staff can build new skills and meet other staff
members, so that we can network to better serve our students.
Plus we got to meet Pearl, a Great Gray Owl.
Here is to keeping my prospective, I am here to serve our students, assist our faculty, and support my fellow staff members so that we all can feel a sense of accomplishment and value in our daily work lives.
